DroidDB Tip of the Month

DroidDB® Tip for February 2014

Synchronization Over USB (Option 2)

There are some devices whose only external connection is a USB cable (i.e. no Wi-Fi). This month's tip-of-the-month describes how to do an mEnable synchronization over the USB cable. It isn't fully tested in all environments, but if you try it and it works once, it should be good.

An alternative way to synchronize over the USB cable is described in the October 2013 tip of the month.

Here's what to do:

  1. Turn off all DroidDB applications on the handheld.
  2. Connect the handheld to the desktop/laptop with the USB cable.
  3. Run DroidDB on the desktop.
  4. Pick your application and click OK.
  5. Select FILE | SYNCHRONIZE.
  6. Press down and hold both the SHIFT key and the CTRL key on your keyboard.
  7. While both the SHIFT key and the CTRL key are both pressed, click the GO button.
  8. You can release the SHIFT key and the CTRL key on your keyboard.
  9. The synchronizer should start working on your desktop.
  10. When the synchronizer completes, close DroidDB.
  11. Disconnect your handheld from your desktop.

Top rated! I needed a solid database application development tool for mobile devices. I chose DroidDB for Android OS because it provided a way to get a strong product to market quickly. DroidDB is relational, gives me control over form layout, handles macros, and supports events. It works on all Android versions I have tried and is a great companion product to SYWARE’s VisualCE.
