DroidDB Tip of the Month
DroidDB® Tip for May 2016
When Do You Need an mEnable Server License?
DroidDB allows you read and write data on a desktop/server database. Sometimes you need an mEnable Server license, sometimes you don't. This month's tip of the month clarifies when an mEnable Server License is needed.
DroidDB comes with a synchronizer. The synchronizer inserts/updates/deletes data on the desktop/server database based on what you did on the handheld. The synchronizer also inserts/updates/deletes data on the handheld database based on what you did on the desktop/server.
If you are satisfied with requiring your end-users to go back to a desktop/laptop and conect the handheld to the desktop/laptop by a USB cable in order to synchronize, you do not need an mEnable Server License.
However, if you want to allow your end-users to synchronize over a WiFi connection, a TCP/IP connection, or an internet conection, you do need an mEnable Server License.
Also, if you want to allow your-end users to read/write the data on the desktop/server in real-time (as opposed to having a copy of the data on the handheld and periodically synchronizing), you will also need an mEnable Server License.
